It’s clear that the safety and health of animals isn’t a priority here. The protests have even spread to Europe, with French police removing dozens of students from the Sorbonne university after pro-Palestinian protesters occupied the main courtyard. In Canada, student protest camps have popped up at the University of Ottawa, McGill University in Montreal and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, The Canadian Press reported.

It prompted me to see if the store still exists and I'm so happy that it does. I hope they still have the same care and knowledge they had almost three decades ago. Vespa (my boa) was a huge part of my life, and had it not been for CRH, I likely never would have owned a snake... Meanwhile, a legal group representing pro-Palestinian students is urging the U.S. Department of Education's civil rights office to investigate Columbia's compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for how they have been treated. Columbia's handling of the protests has prompted federal complaints.

He also didn't say how the suspensions would be carried out or whether suspended students would be ejected from the campus. The confrontation was an escalation on the 50,000-student campus in the state's capital. On social media, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott reposted video of state troopers arriving, saying “No encampments will be allowed." Just last week, hundreds of police pushed into protesters at the university, arresting more than 50 people. The plight of students who have been arrested has become a central part of protests, with the students and a growing number of faculty demanding amnesty for protesters. At issue is whether the suspensions and legal records will follow students through their adult lives.

In the letter to student protesters at Columbia, school officials noted that exams are beginning and graduation is upcoming. College classes are wrapping up for the semester, and campuses are preparing for graduation ceremonies, giving schools an extra incentive to clear encampments. The University of Southern California canceled its main graduation ceremony.

The Texas protest and others grew out of Columbia's early demonstrations that have continued. On Monday, student activists at Columbia defied a 2 p.m. Deadline to leave an encampment of around 120 tents on the school’s Manhattan campus. Instead, hundreds of protesters marched around the quad, clapping, chanting and weaving around piles of temporary flooring and green carpeting meant for graduation ceremonies that are supposed to begin next week.

“We urge you to remove the encampment so that we do not deprive your fellow students, their families and friends of this momentous occasion,” the letter said. Demonstrators on other campuses, meanwhile, said they would stand firm. Great selection, great prices, and knowledgeable staff.

From coast to coast, demonstrators are sparring over the Israel-Hamas war and its mounting death toll, and the number of arrests at campuses nationwide is approaching 1,000 as the final days of class wrap up. Protesters at Yale set up a new camp with dozens of tents Sunday, nearly a week after police arrested nearly 50 and cleared a similar one nearby. They were notified by a Yale official that they could face discipline, including suspension, and possible arrest if they continued. Another group of demonstrators trapped police and a van full of arrestees between buildings, creating a mass of bodies pushing and shoving and prompting the officers to use pepper spray and flash-bang devices to clear the crowd.

Yale said in a statement Monday that while it supports peaceful protests and freedom of speech, it does not tolerate policy violations such as the encampment. School officials said that the protest is near residential colleges where many students are studying for final exams, and that permission must be granted for groups to hold events and put up structures on campus. The demonstrations have led Columbia to hold remote classes. The school said in an email to students that bringing back police “at this time” would be counterproductive. The university said it will offer an alternative venue for the protests after exams and graduation. In a rare case, Northwestern University said it reached an agreement with students and faculty who represent the majority of protesters on its campus near Chicago.

At Brown University in Rhode Island, school President Christina H. Paxton offered protest leaders the chance to meet with officials to discuss their arguments for divestment from Israel-linked companies in exchange for ending an encampment. The notice sent to protesters earlier Monday said if they left by the deadline and signed a form committing to abide by university policies through June 2025, they could finish the semester in good standing. If not, the letter said, they would be suspended, pending further investigation. I remember when the shop first opened about 28 years ago. I ended up buying my red tail there about a year after. Chang said that while the university appreciated the free speech rights of students, the encampment was a “noisy distraction” that was interfering with teaching and preparation for for final exams. St George Utah Temple Public Open House

Walking tours of the temple will be offered daily except for Sundays and Saturday, April 6. St. George’s newest house of the Lord originally was referred to as the Washington County Utah Temple when President Russell M. Nelson announced plans in October 2018 general conference for a second temple in the area. The Washington County name was still referenced when the site location — northeast of 3000 East and 1580 South in southeastern St. George — and preliminary building size were published a year later, in November 2019. The two open houses and the rededication of the older temple and the dedication of the new one mark the first time that such milestone events for two houses of the Lord have been held so closely together in both time and location.

Jason Cobb, an on-site foreman for Grant Mackay Demolition Company, has been doing this type of construction work for 14 years, but this job is different. As a member of the Church, he said working on the temple allows him to be a part of history. He said, "It feels amazing to me to have the opportunity to be able to work on temples . . . to be able to feel the love that the Lord has for His house and for each one of us." According to the Church's Newsroom site, the St. George Utah Temple, the first of four pioneer-era temples, closed on Monday, 4 November 2019, to undergo "extensive structural, mechanical, electrical, finish and plumbing work." In November 2005, the Los Angeles California Temple closed for a seismic overhaul and renovation of the baptistry, reopening July 11, 2006—the same year as the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the temple. During that time, the Church had difficulty locating suitable acreage on which to build a stake center.

The glass’s main design motif is the regionally significant almond blossom. The Red Cliffs temple is one of a dozen temple in Utah that will be dedicated or rededicated in the next several years. Utah is home of the Church’s world headquarters and nearly 2.2 million Latter-day Saints.

There is also a new baptistry entrance on the south side of the temple and a bride’s exit on the northeast corner. The desert’s simplicity, symmetry and color are seen in both the exterior and interior of the temple. Following its extensive renovation over two-plus years, the St. George temple hosted its public open house beginning Sept. 15, 2023, and concluding Nov. 15, less than three months ago.

In October 2018 general conference, President Russell M. Nelson announced the Church’s intention to renovate its pioneer temples, with the St. George Utah Temple the first since to be completed. Renovation plans and exterior renderings were released in May 2019, with the temple closing in early November of the same year. Andy Kirby, director of the Church’s historic temple renovations, said of the renovations, “It has [an] all-new heating, air conditioning and cooling system .

The two-month public open house for the Los Angeles California Temple attracted 682,361 visitors, who toured the magnificent structure. Folding chairs, chalkboards and display stands and cases are a welcome addition to the church’s community efforts. In addition, a decorative stone bench now complements the A.M.E. Church entrance. The landscape architect is Loci, with local support from HLA Group of Sacramento, California. The landscape plan is inspired by the mediterranean climate of the Sacramento Valley and the area’s rich history and biodiversity. The design incorporates several mature native oak, redwood, and hackberry trees already on the site.

St. George Utah Temple Closes for Renovations

Before the Mesa Arizona Temple was constructed, Arizona members performed temple ordinances in the St. George Utah Temple. Because of the numerous bridal parties that traveled the wagon road between St. George and Arizona, the well-trod path became known as the Honeymoon Trail. Two other historic Utah temples — in Manti and Logan will also be renovated. The St. George Utah Temple serves Latter-day Saint communities in southwestern Utah and parts of Arizona and Nevada. Despite the closure, temple-going Latter-day Saints will be able to continue attending temple services at the Cedar City Utah Temple. After Cedar City, the nearest Latter-day Saint temple is the Las Vegas Nevada Temple.

President Holland to Rededicate the St. George Utah Temple

The public open house will run from Thursday, Feb. 1, through Saturday, March 2, excluding Sundays. The temple will be dedicated on Sunday, 13 October 2024 in multiple sessions. The temple will be dedicated on Sunday, 22 September 2024 in multiple sessions.

Background of the Red Cliffs Utah Temple

Lighting features and the baptismal font area are inspired by leaf shapes and area succulents, while stone and tile patterns suggest the layered structures of local mountains. The temple also features exterior arches as well as a vertical emphasis with deep pilasters — rectangular columns projecting from a wall. The pilasters are an architectural cue from the Church’s Wilshire Ward meetinghouse in Los Angeles, California.

Remains Lighting in New York City manufactured the metal decorative lighting fixtures, which are made of cast bronze with a two-tone finish to match the building’s hardware finishes. Other decorative fixtures are period antiques that have been refurbished and rewired for use in the temple. All lighting fixtures are historically consistent with those found in the late 1800s. The historic St. George Utah Temple, the Church’s longest-operating house of the Lord, was announced by Brigham Young in 1871, and the temple was dedicated in 1877. It has gone through previous renovations, including in 1917, 1938 and 1975.

They also used seventeen thousand tons of volcanic rock and sandstone, which had to be hand-cut and hauled by mule teams. The St. George Utah Temple, first dedicated on April 6, 1877, was rededicated on Dec. 10, 2023, by President Jeffrey R. Holland, a St. George native and acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. It was the first pioneer-era temple to be renovated and rededicated following President Russell M. Nelson’s announcement in October 2018 general conference of plans to begin renovating and updating the Church’s pioneer-era temples. Reservations are now available online to tour the newly built Red Cliffs Utah Temple during the public open house, via reservations.churchofjesuschrist.org. Walking tours of the temple will be offered daily except for Sundays.

The temple’s previous murals — suggesting a sequence of creation, garden and world — were removed in the 1980s and partially restored in the 1990s. With the recent renovations, three artists were commissioned — one each for the three instruction rooms — to create scenes of southwest Utah’s rugged natural beauty. The millwork throughout the temple — including altars, recommend desk and cabinets — reflect the design and detail from the 1870s. Doors are white-painted wood, with replacement bronze hardware based on historic precedents. The flooring is new wood, carpet and tile, with the wood similar to the historic flooring used in some areas of the north addition. The baptistry flooring is of red metaquartzite quarried near Las Vegas, Nevada.

The progressive-style ordinance rooms that were used to present 3 live-acting endowment sessions a day, were replaced with three motion-picture ordinance rooms that accommodated 14 sessions a day. The ceilings of the historic building were mostly replaced with new plaster and drywall because of the sagging wood floor structure above that required reinforcing. The ceilings of the north addition are painted drywall, with suspended ceiling tiles used in some areas, such as the dressing rooms. The profiles of crown moldings match historic moldings found in the temple.

Reservations are now available online to tour the renovated St. George Utah Temple during the public open house, via reservations.churchofjesuschrist.org. It is one of a half-dozen temples with either ongoing public open houses or ones that will start in the next month. In announcing 12 new temples at the October 2018 general conference, President Russell M. Nelson also said that the Salt Lake Temple and other pioneer-era temples will be renovated. The Saints overcame the problem of a swampy site in an ingenious way. They decided to bring lava rock to the site then made drains to get rid of much of the water.

A new skylight has also been provided in the bride’s room area, using the quatrefoil motif as the basis of design. This skylight will also employ decorative art glass at the room’s ceiling level. Precast concrete pillars are located at the gated entrances to the grounds. Eight other Utah temples are under construction — Deseret Peak, Ephraim, Heber Valley, Layton, Lindon, Smithfield, Syracuse and Taylorsville. Like the St. George temple was, the Salt Lake and Manti temples have been under renovation, with reconstruction of the Provo Utah Temple to begin in late February 2024. The Taylorsville Utah Temple is scheduled for dedication on June 2 and the Layton Utah Temple two weeks later on June 16.

These murals were painted by Linda Curley Christensen, Keith Bond and David Miekle, each of whom was responsible for one of the instruction rooms. The simple elegance of the furniture is intended to complement the restrained beauty of the interior architecture. The furniture design is inspired by the late neoclassical style popular during the mid-19th century — a style the pioneers of southern Utah produced in simpler vernacular versions of grained pine throughout the 19th century. It is characterized by flat surfaces with dramatic curves that are veneered in mahogany and flamed mahogany, with tables featuring Carrara marble tops. The St. George Utah Temple is the only temple completed during Brigham Young's 30-year tenure as president of the Church.

The original tower of the St. George Utah Temple fell casualty to a lightning storm about a year after the dedication, leaving it badly damaged. A new tower was completed in 1883, taller and more majestic than the first. The presentation of the endowment was originally delivered by live acting in the St. George Utah Temple.

The southern Utah pioneer-era temple — the oldest and longest-operating of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — has been under renovation since November 2019. The St. George temple has undergone multiple renovations since it was originally dedicated in 1877, according to the Church News. It will continue through Saturday, Nov. 11, excluding Sundays and Saturday, Sept. 30, due to general conference. The veil and celestial rooms historically featured murals that represented the room in the progressive sequence of creation, garden and world rooms. These murals were removed in the 1970s and partially restored in the 1990s. New murals were commissioned that capture the rugged natural beauty of the southwest Utah landscape.

The windows of the St. George Utah Temple have always had clear glass, similar to other temples such as Nauvoo, Kirtland, and Salt Lake. Repaving Around the St. George Utah Temple

About a year after Brigham Young's death, on October 16, 1878, a large storm rolled through St. George and a lightning bolt struck the tower of the temple, making it necessary to reconstruct the tower and dome. Brigham Young's feelings about the tower were well known and a new design was made for the tower, making it taller. The Los Angeles California Temple closed for 10 weeks in its 25th anniversary year, 1981, for remodeling and refurbishment. The addition of two rooms and audio visual equipment allowed sessions to begin every half hour in a stationary motion-picture presentation of the endowment. The Los Angeles California Temple was the first temple to include a priesthood assembly room and angel Moroni statue following the Salt Lake Temple. The spacious assembly room seats about 2,000 and features three pulpits on each end.

On Jan. 1, 1877, sections of the temple — including the baptistry, a second-floor assembly room and an upper-level sealing room — were dedicated by Church leaders, with temple ordinances beginning within the next 10 days. The temple ordinances — old and new — were recorded, reviewed and approved over the next several months. Wilford Woodruff recorded that during the St. George temple’s first year of operation, almost 25,000 baptisms for the dead, 12,000 endowments and 3,800 sealings were performed.

It was also in the St. George temple where more ordinances were first added for deceased individuals, including the first endowment ordinances done by proxy. Previously in Nauvoo, ordinances done on behalf of deceased relatives were proxy baptisms and some sealings of living individuals to deceased spouses. The latest project corrects inconsistencies in architectural and design styles in the temple from previous renovations. The public open house will run nearly two months, from Friday, Sept. 15, through Saturday, Nov. 11, excluding Sundays and excluding Saturday, Sept. 30, for October 2023 general conference. The exterior and interior images and details of the renovations were first published Wednesday, Sept. 6, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

The announcement to build the St. George temple was given on 9 November 1871, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held that same day. Brigham Young, the prophet and president of the Church at the time, personally chose a six-acre plot as the site for the temple. The afternoon of the groundbreaking ceremony the Saints immediately began construction for their new temple. Unfortunately, the Saints soon discovered that the site was swampy with numerous underground streams. They asked Brigham Young if perhaps they should move the site, but he remained firm that this was the site for the temple.

The new north addition has exterior walls created of precast concrete, which are covered with a light sand and white epoxy paint to match the color and texture of the historic building. Following a second major renovation project, the St. George Utah Temple nearly doubled its 56,062 square feet. It was opened to the public for an open house and formally rededicated in 1975.

In areas where the existing plaster was failing or needed to be removed to accommodate new electrical, HVAC or plumbing, it was replaced with new plaster or drywall. Most of the temple is painted in its original white to match the historic interiors, but a few rooms have a light-colored paint, such as the celestial room and the large sealing rooms located in the annex. charlotte vs houston dynamo

Houston Dynamo FC currently sits in the 8th position in the Western Conference with 29 points from 23 matches. Their recent form has seen them secure two wins and suffer three losses in their last five games. As they head into the next round, Houston Dynamo will be relying on their home advantage to progress further. Charlotte FC is one of the newest franchises in U.S. soccer and has steadily improved to reach this stage.

Cards / 90 - Charlotte

Although they tied with FC Dallas, they beat them on penalties to get the extra point and then beat Necaxa 4-1. Last Thursday, after a scoreless draw against Cruz Azul, they won on penalties 4-3. Although there are only five teams left in Liga MX, Héctor Herrera represents Mexico and will be looking to join Dynamo in the top eight of the league. Houston has arrived for this game, remembering that they have not won in the current tournament and all their games have ended in penalties.

Start

Houston and Charlotte have only met once since the Crown’s inaugural MLS season in 2022, resulting in a 2-1 victory for the visitors at Shell Energy Stadium. The Dynamo will look to even the all-time series at one win apiece on Monday night. The Houston Dynamo are a bit strange, because they have not won a single game and they are already in the top 16.

Miso soup used in Ramen noodle is a thick, nutty, slightly sweet and very hearty soup. Our Miso soup is faithful to the original miso flavor you may encounter in Hokkaido.Curry broth is miso base with added flavorful yellow curry paste.

Shio means salt, so shio ramen is seasoned simply with salt tare. The soup is clear, delicate, and light as it is simmered more slowly to concentrate the flavor and prevent cloudiness. The broth is often made with chicken broth (sometimes with the addition of pork bones) and flavored with dried sardines, dashi stock, bonito flakes, seaweed, and vegetables. When you go to a ramen shop or ramen-ya in Japan, you’ll often see ramen being categorized by the type of tare used in a particular bowl.

Tucked inside a strip mall along Western Ave. in Koreatown, this sleek, modern ramen bar has six different ramen on the menu, but the one you want is the spicy shoyu tonkotsu. For those who fear the heat, know it’s more rich than spicy, filled with a decadent pork broth that’s been simmered for 24 hours. The noodles have a nice chew and the thick slabs of pork belly chashu floating on top basically melt the second they hit your mouth. Round out your meal with their equally excellent shrimp katsu sandwich and a pint of crisp Japanese craft beer. Two of the main components of the ramen broth (kaeshi, the soup base and dashi, the soup stock) are freshly made in-house.

This ramen favorite prides itself on its traditional Japanese fare. Not only did the owner and chef Jay Zhou earn his chops learning to make ramen in Nishikawa, Japan, but the noodles are also made fresh from scratch using a Japanese machine. Choose from classics like miso and shio ramen, or try one of the specialties. The Nishikawa Black is a popular option made with pork broth, pork chasu, green onion, menma, kikurage, black garlic oil, fried onion, sesame seeds, seasoned egg, and nori, served with straight noodles. For extra flavor, opt for more of the homemade black garlic oil.

Tsukemen Aizen’s deluxe offering serves thinly shaved pork in a flower-like formation, along with a mound of thick noodles, spinach, lotus root, and boiled eggs. The star — a side bowl of fishy, umami-riddled dipping broth — coats every dipped noodle with an explosion of salty, fatty flavor. Sourcing high-quality ingredients is the focus at Little Big Diner, which sells a variety of pork and chicken ramen, as well as vegetarian pumpkin ramen with roasted delicata squash and spiced pepitas. The ramen shop is run by the same team that also owns another popular spot a few steps down the block, Jinny’s Pizzeria. A velvety pork bone broth, tender pork slices, perfectly cooked noodles, and an array of toppings create a symphony of flavors that keeps patrons coming back for more. Close to me there is a restaurant called Issho Ni Ramen in Willoughby, Ohio.

Established in 2023, we are on a culinary journey through the dynamic and rich tapestry of Asian cuisine. Our name is a tribute to the fifth taste, known as “umami”, which creates a deep, satisfying sensation of savoriness. It is this distinct taste that we seek to honor and elevate in each of our dishes, hence the birth of our fusion ramen experience.

They also have a discovery set that would be perfect to test out all six fragrances. At first sniff, you’ll immediately pick up Cosmic Power’s top notes of black pepper and cinnamon bark, followed by warm, cozy amber accord and vanilla bean. Tilbury describes the spicy-sweet fragrance as “empowerment in a bottle,” calling it invigorating yet enchanting at the same time.

Tilbury worked with a team from International Flavors and Fragrance (IFF) and used the company's Scentcube AI algorithm to combine ingredients that the brand says help boost certain emotions. Want to feel more powerful when walking into a meeting at work? There's even a scent that promises to help you have more sex, aptly named "More Sex."

Although I would like to have more sex and increase my feelings of love, unfortunately, those weren't the scents that spoke to me. I felt most drawn to Joyphoria and Magic Energy, so I typically rotate the two of those into my scent routine. I spritz on my wrists, the back of my neck, down my shirt, and in my hair.

Collection of Emotions isn’t Tilbury’s first attempt at fragrance (she launched the limited edition Scent of a Dream back in August 2016). It’s also much more nuanced than just her favorite notes tossed together and thrown into a single perfume bottle. This line emphasizes feelings of emotions you can construct with your olfactory system.

You can shop the Charlotte Tilbury Collection of Emotions fragrances on Charlottetilbury.com for $150 each or a discovery set of all six scents for $30. On the outside of the morganite glass bottle, you’ll notice the numerals “IX” etched onto the vial, along with a sacred heart with flames, which is said to symbolize all-encompassing, passionate, divine love. If you’re intrigued by a mix of gourmand and tart notes, with a touch of floral, Blay thinks you will love this scent—no pun intended.

” asks Charlotte Tilbury to a small group of beauty editors and content creators in her London office. With the makeup artist and brand founder to be one of the first to learn about her top-secret Collection of Emotions perfume line—a project that’s been years in the making. Famed makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury knew exactly what she was doing when she launched her eponymous brand in 2012. The extensive, gold-gilded lineup, which currently spans makeup (base, eyes, and lip) and skin care (cleansers, masks, serums, and creams) strikes the perfect balance between luxurious, effortless, and effective. The Airbrush Flawless Finish is hands-down one of my top five favorite foundations of all time. It leaves the skin with a velvety-matte finish, stays put for hours (it’s a great wedding day foundation), and doesn’t settle into lines or emphasize texture.

The brand is also no stranger to winning Best of Beauty and Readers' Choice Awards, which we like to think are some of the highest compliments in the beauty world. She is famous, like Dolly Parton, for sleeping in her makeup. Her eyes sparkle as she speaks with the runaway, chatty energy of a hostess welcoming you to a party. Tilbury says, “I don’t want to see invisible women,” so her products make eyes look brighter and complexions more dewy, and are known for creating an intensely glamorous effect.

Now, my dresser drawers are littered with perfume bottles, and I'm constantly testing out new products, which is why when I heard Charlotte Tilbury was again dipping her toe into the world of fragrance, I was intrigued. The brand launched a limited-edition fragrance in 2016, but the new collection was supposed to be entirely different. I met with the brand in Los Angeles a few months ago, and what I learned certainly grabbed my attention. Since these perfumes are pretty pricey at $150 a pop, I'd suggest testing a sample or purchasing a smaller size to make sure you found your favorite before splurging on the full size.

“However you want to feel and whoever you want to be, [you] choose the energy and vibration,” she says. All products featured on Allure are independently selected by our editors. The brand also has a fragrance finder that can help you make a choice you'll love. When I was growing up, perfumes were a big no-no in my house. My mom has a "sensitive nose," and if she got even the slightest whiff of something fragrant, you'd know about it. (I don't mean this in a good way.) I was essentially perfume-deprived until I was old enough to move out of the house, and in all honesty, it wasn't until a few years ago that I started getting more interested in perfumes. As for the amethyst-colored glass bottle, the color purple is said to symbolize balance and restoration, similar to the pull of a new moon, which is etched on the front with the Roman numeral ‘VIII’.
